Education
Greenfield and brownfield developments on primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities across Northern Ireland.
Featured project
North West Regional College
The project comprised a six-storey 3,400m² extension to the existing Strand Road Building, housing the main campus reception, IT suites, laboratory areas and general teaching classrooms, together with a six-storey 5,800m² new build facility, the Foyle Building, for performing arts, student services and general teaching.
The two elements were linked at Level 4 by an interconnecting bridge spanning Strand Road. To meet the set BREEAM targets, the mechanical design adopted:
- Individual classroom control with either dedicated heat recovery comfort heating and cooling or perimeter radiant panels
- High efficiency condensing gas fired boiler plant
- Variable speed drive motors to all pump and fan motors
- Natural ventilation where design conditions permitted
- A site-wide Building Energy Management System with a dedicated front-end computer to enhance Estate Services controllability and functionality
